The Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences came into being in the year 2020 when it became expedient to create it out of the preexisting Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences. The current Dean is Professor D.P. Oparinde (who was also the pioneer dean), while the current deputy dean is Dr O.J. Onaolapo. The departments that are currently within the Faculty are: medical microbiology, chemical pathology, haematology, morbid anatomy, and pharmacology/therapeutics. The Faculty also has thriving and vibrant post-graduate training programmes in the departments of pharmacology/therapeutics, chemical pathology, and medical microbiology.
